Wynne for the win! MSU alumnus wins first place in national hatchback competition

STARKVILLE, Mississippi — Ashley Wynne, a two-time Mississippi graduate and avid Bulldog fan residing in Greenville, South Carolina, was named the winner of the Collegiate Licensing Company’s inaugural Great College Tailgate Competition.

Wynne, whose entry has beaten nearly 100 other people from across the country, will receive a trip to a college bowling game of her choice and tailgate prize packs, including merchandise from top equipment licensees. from LOGO Brands and WinCraft Inc. fans

Fans were invited to showcase their hatchbacks through photos, videos and written descriptions of why their hatchback is the best in the country. Entries were judged on school spirit, creativity and tailgate scale, with a fan vote for the finalists.

For over 12 seasons, Wynne has welcomed family and friends to her “Hail State Tailgate,” which features a variety of Mississippi State brand and food products. Its tailgate often incorporates a theme based on the opposing team, like a huge papier-mâché pig when the State of Mississippi played Arkansas.

“We followed every game when we were in school, and now that we’re all scattered across the country, our hatchback is an annual promise to come together as friends to support our team and keep the tradition alive,” he said. said Wynne, who has an MSU master’s degree in chemical engineering and business administration, as well as a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Rhode Island.

“The state of Mississippi is so ingrained in our lives – we became friends there, we met spouses there, our children were born there – and although we don’t need our tailgate to maintain friendships.” or love for the Bulldogs, it’s absolutely one of the best times of every year, and we look forward to it right out of the football calendar, ”said Wynne.

Leah Beasley, deputy director of sports for external affairs, said MSU Athletics was thrilled to see Wynne representing the Bulldog fan base in such a big way.

“Game day at Starkville is a special experience full of tradition and spirit, and we are happy that this is recognized nationally through this competition,” she said.
