Watch: KING’S X joined by PAUL SHAFFER on stage at New York concert
Paul Schafferthe long date David Letterman musical director and sidekick, joined King’s X on stage last night (Thursday July 28) at the band’s concert at the Gramercy Theater in New York to perform the song “We were born to be loved”originally appeared on King’s Xthe 1990 album “Faith Hope Love”. Also appearing with them was Felicia Collinswho is perhaps best known for her role as lead guitarist for Shafferit is CBS Orchestra on the “Late Show with David Letterman”. In the early 1990s, Shaffer would have gone to a King’s X show and then asked the band members on their bus what kind of sampling technology they used for their vocal harmonies. After they told him “none”, Shaffer left impressed and taught his band how to play “We were born to be loved”. According to the One Week // One Band website, the song’s “faux funk-metal coda proved ideal for the Letterman the show’s commercial bumpers and regular use provided the group with semi-annual royalty checks for years.
Earlier this month, King’s X canceled their European tour this fall due to “an unforeseen medical issue” with the guitarist Ty Tabor.
King’s X noted that TyThe illness – which requires “vigilant monitoring” – would not affect the three gigs the band were scheduled to play in July, as these were the last gigs before their treatments.
King’s X will release their 13th studio album, “Three Sides of One”September 2nd.
“Three Sides of One” will be available as a limited CD digipak, 180g 2LP+CD+LP gatefold booklet and digital album. There will also be a limited deluxe 180g Orange/Red Marble 2LP+CD+LP booklet which also includes a hand numbered poster and print, as well as an exclusive variation of the cover artwork.
In 2019, members of King’s X gathered at black sound studio in Pasadena, California, with Emmy Awards– winning producer Michael Parnin to bring “Three Sides of One” live. Despite constant touring, they hadn’t released a new album since 2008. Nevertheless, the guys picked up where they left off. Confidant and creative collaborator Wally Farkas unfolded, and they channeled their chemistry on tape.

King’s X has been sidelined by several health issues in recent years, including the singer Doug “Dug” PinnickThe two hernia operations and the two near-fatal heart attacks suffered by the batsman jerry gaskill.
In October 2019, King’s X canceled all of its previously announced tour dates for the year so that Gaskill could undergo undisclosed heart “procedures”.
“XV” has been King’s Xhighest charting album since 1996 “Ear Candy”.
In 2005, VH1 included King’s X in its list of the “100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists”.
