Videos of KK being rushed off stage, complaining about poor conditions in the concert hall shared online

Videos of the KK singer looking visibly uncomfortable at a Kolkata concert that would turn out to be his last have been shared online. KK is dead at the age of 53 after complaining of discomfort at the Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata on Tuesday night. An autopsy would be carried out later in the day in the city.

Some audience members who attended the concert inside said the singer was sweating profusely on stage and even had complaint to the organizers on the sweltering conditions. He had even asked the organizers to lower the spotlight on him. This appears to have been corroborated by the handful of videos of the venue circulating online.

One shows the singer wiping his face with a hand towel, as an off-camera man complains about the heat. “Zyaada garam haithe man says, as KK waves to another person, apparently asking about ventilation at the site. Two other videos show the singer rushed off stage, surrounded by a crew, immediately after thanking the crowd. “God bless you all,” he can be heard saying, moments before turning and being escorted out of the room. A fourth video shows people spraying a fire extinguisher inside the room, causing others to rush out.

KK had shared several videos and photos from the Nazrul Mancha concert. On Instagram, he posted two photos with the caption: “Thrilling concert tonight at Nazrul Mancha. Vivekananda College!! I love you all.” He had performed hits such as “Aankhon Mein Teri”, “Khuda Jaane”, “Aashayein” and “Make Some Noise For The Desi Boyz”.

The singer was rushed to CMRI Hospital around 10 p.m., according to the PTI news agency. He “felt heavy” after reaching his hotel and quickly collapsed, officials told PTI. The same report quoted a doctor as saying, “KK was taken to the hospital around 10 p.m. It’s a shame we couldn’t cure him.

Condolences poured in from all quarters, including from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Entertainment industry figures such as Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Vishal Dadlani and Salim Merchant have also paid tribute to the singer. His family has arrived in Kolkata and an autopsy will be carried out today. ANI tweeted, “A case of unnatural death has been registered with New Market PS regarding the death of singer KK After obtaining consent from the family, an inquest and autopsy will be conducted. Arrangements are being made for the autopsy at the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata.
