‘The Flash’ gets roasted online as fans compare it to ‘Power Rangers’
Flash is trending on Twitter, but for all the wrong reasons. It’s no secret that what was once The CW’s most successful DC TV series has seen a significant drop in popularity in recent years. In its early days, superhero enthusiasts were united in their unanimous affection for the Arrowverse’s second show, starring Grant Gustin as the fastest man alive. Move on now, however, and it’s roasted online for its Power rangers-esque production values.
All the bad press started with a viral tweet featuring a clip of FlashEpisode 100, which aired earlier this year as part of Season 7. Billed as a reason DC TV shows aren’t any more advanced than the Marvel series, the footage comes from a scene where the Godspeed’s army wreaks havoc on a Central City bridge as their civil war threatens civilians. The scene then switches to the Flash family battling the Godspeeds.
It’s obviously meant to be an epic crowd-pleasing streak, but it only meets with contempt on social media as everyone compares it unfavorably to Power rangers, which is infamous for its low budget.
Fans also lament how far the series has come since its glory days.
It should be his new name.
Even DC fans are ashamed of this clip.
On the other hand, some people say that the RP the comparison is offensive … Power rangers.
While the Power rangers jokes are funny and a little fair, it’s sad that Flash has taken such a tumble in terms of public opinion since its first two seasons. It’s also worth pointing out that while Season 7 certainly wasn’t a highlight of the series, Season 8 got off to a good start with the âArmageddonâ crossover event.
If this roasting did not put you off, Flash Season 8 airs Tuesdays on The CW.
