Newsmax viewership grows for Trump rallies other networks ignore
- Former President Donald Trump held two “Save America” rallies this month.
- Right-wing cable channel Newsmax airs the rallies, while most networks ignore them.
- Newsmax sees a massive boost in ratings when there is a rally, CNN reported.
Right-wing cable channel Newsmax’s viewership skyrockets when it airs former President Donald Trump’s rallies, perhaps because no other network airs them.
CNN’s Brian Stelter said in a segment from “Reliable Sources” on Sunday that Newsmax ratings skyrocket on the nights the former president speaks.
“On a normal Saturday night, Newsmax might have 50,000 viewers, but when Trump held a rally two weeks ago, over 1.5 million found the channel, beating Fox, because Fox ignored the rally,” said Stelter.

Newsmax did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
Newsmax said last week that the network’s broadcast of Trump’s rally in Arizona on Jan. 15 drew 2.9 million viewers, according to Nielsen data.
Most networks, including Fox News, do not air Trump campaign-style events. Trump held two “Save America” rallies this month, one in Arizona and one in Texas on Saturday.
Trump used the rallies to criticize President Joe Biden, push false claims about the 2020 election and hint at a possible race in 2024. On Saturday, he also floated the idea of pardoning those accused of the Capitol riot if he decides to run and is re-elected in 2024.
