Newcastle United player trolls Sunderland fans online after Saudi takeover
Newcastle United player Paul Dummett has met the wrath of Sunderland fans everywhere after mocking club Wearside in a post widely circulated on social media.
The defender couldn’t help but pick up some niceties at the expense of his side’s local rivals, following Newcastle’s takeover by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
Dummett, who has been at Newcastle since the age of nine, was one of many current and former Magpies to tweet about the property, joining Allan-Saint Maximin and Ronaldo Aarons.
On Thursday night, it was revealed that the Saudi PIF had bought the Premier League for just over £ 300million, ending the widely doomed property reign of one Mike Ashley.
Unsurprisingly then, fans and players alike were eager to celebrate the news, but Dummett’s joy quickly turned to social media jubilation.
The player tweeted a photo of some rather disgruntled looking fans inside the Stadium of Light – with the caption: “Meanwhile in Sunderland …”
The 30-year-old’s Tweet has been sent everywhere, attracting over 17,000 likes at the time of writing.
However, not all reactions have been so positive.
As you can probably imagine, some of the Sunderland fans who stumbled across the post weren’t too happy …

While others have been keen to point out that the Newcastle takeover is probably not good news for Dummett himself, who has yet to start a Premier League game this season.
Ha ha. This is bad news for you buddy. I don’t think a multi billionaire owner is going to build a camp around Paul Dummett, even when he finds out who you are: joy :: joy:
