Naija Star Search: Competitors Delight Audiences With Afrobeat Hit Songs
Naija Star Search’s main show kicked off last with contestants stirring up emotions from the audience as they played blasts from the past.
Even the judges weren’t left out as they enjoyed the nostalgia the show brought.
Seventeen contestants from across the country with diverse backgrounds and orientations will be groomed and race to produce Afrobeats’ next star.
Grouped under Team Kenny, Team ID Cabasa and Team Asha, each team mesmerized viewers with sweet serenades while transporting audiences back in time. They not only sang Naija hit songs but also remixed them with a touch of street cred and originality.
The Kennis team performed Capital FEMI’s Baby I Got It with Eedris Abdulkareem. The Asha Gangali team performed You is the One by Azadus. While Team ID Cabasa performed live in Yankee by Eedris Abdulkareem. The group also plays a vital role in interpreting the performance of competitors.
“It’s just a warm-up for the show,” head judge Kenny Ogungbe said as the stage promises to get hotter this Sunday at 8 p.m. on ST Nollywood Channels and the StarTimes-ON app. .
Naija Star Search is a partnership between Kennis Music and StarTimes.
Naija Star Search is designed as an exclusive Afrobeats show, the first of its kind in the country. With guidance and criticism from the judges, contestants will be educated in the art and business of Afrobeats music for the next three months.
