Monday Video: Can we fangirl a bit more about Cornelia Dorr? | Eventing Nation

Forgive us while we fangirl our best American in Burghley, Cornelia Dorr, just a little more. Not only the 24-year-old and her mare, Daytona Beach 8, one of 47% of combinations that completed the cross without jumping faults, they were also one of 8 pairs to complete it with less than 10 time penalties. Their exceptional cross-country course propelled them from 50th position after dressage to 16th place ahead of show jumping. But wait, there’s more: of the 28 jump combinations on Sunday, Cornelia and Daytona were one of only 6 to achieve a double clear. They put an exclamation mark on their weekend by taking a 10th place finish, climbing 40 places overall throughout the weekend and proving once again that the eventing – and Burghley in particular – is not a dressage show.

The partnership between Cornelia and Daytona has grown over the past few years. Prior to Cornelia’s race on Daytona, the mare had been raced through the former 2* level with Sandra Auffarth.

We managed to find footage of Cornelia and Daytona’s first event together during open training at Florida Horse Park in early 2019. Take a look at the first round of cross country for this pair of superstars below!

Now in 2022, Cornelia and her husband, Claire, have been working and training hard with UK-based Australian Kevin McNab since January this year. Call with this pair by checking Cornelia’s Instagram here!
