Last year’s game between the two was postponed after fans invaded the Old Trafford ground
The penultimate United-Liverpool game on May 2 was called off when a large protest led to clashes between fans and police, while other supporters held up the team bus.
On that occasion, the game was postponed, with Liverpool winning 4-2, but Jurgen Klopp believes his side shouldn’t be forced to squeeze another game in again when they would be blameless if canceled.
“I really hope it doesn’t happen, but if it does I think we should score some points,” he said.
Raphael Varane was unveiled in different circumstances ahead of the win over Leeds last year
“We have nothing to do with the situation if the (United) supporters don’t want the game to go ahead.” We can’t just rearrange the game again and try to fit it somewhere in an incredibly busy time.
Klopp added: “We’ll have United, play the game hopefully and go home.” I have no idea what could happen. But in a situation like this, the other team should get the points because they have nothing to do with it. We prepared for the game.
Casemiro’s unveiling is set to contrast with the one Raphael Varane received last year. The French defender paraded at Old Trafford ahead of kick-off against Leeds last year, with thousands of cheering supporters before United secured a 5-1 victory.

United’s most recent game was a particularly poor performance as they went 4-0 down to Brentford in 35 minutes.
Erik ten Hag’s side will be looking to bounce back against Liverpool, who are also hoping for their first win of the season after back-to-back draws.
