Journalist provides update on Liverpool pursuit of Leicester City star

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been heavily linked with a summer move from Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. However, answering questions from fans recently, Leceister City reporter Jordan Blackwell, who works for Leicestershire Live, provided a positive update for the Foxes after suggesting the Reds aren’t actually chasing the Belgium international.

Tielemans, 24, joined Leicester City from Monaco in early 2019, initially on loan, before making his change permanent the following summer as part of a contract worth £ 40.5million.

Since arriving at King Power Stadium two years ago, the much-loved midfielder has made 108 appearances in all competitions, directly contributing to an impressive 36 goals.

Although he still has two years left on his current contract, recent reports had suggested the 24-year-old might be ready for a big move to Anfield.

However, hope may be on the horizon for Foxes fans after Blackwell reported that Klopp’s side are not currently interested in signing the well-rounded midfielder.

When asked by a fan if he thought the player’s agent or Liverpool was behind the speculation, Blackwell said: “As for Tielemans, the latest seems to be that Liverpool are not pursuing him at the moment.

“I think stories don’t go away because information tends to snowball until it ends for good, like a new contract or the end of the transfer window.

“You could say that the media are not helping in this regard. I don’t think either of them is likely to leave just yet, but Tielemans probably has more international appeal.
